Avoid delays in lead times and reduce more than 25% of errors in your leather supply chain
Impactiva’s Leather Quality Assurance Program ensures that you get the leather exactly as per your needs, so that your final product is manufactured on time.
How it works
Impactiva will meet with your materials team to define your leather standards in precise detail before the start of each production season so that 100% of the leather can be inspected at your tanneries and go directly to the cutting rooms of your factories without requiring a re-inspection.
Our technicians will go to your tanneries every time a production lot is ready for shipment. They will carry out our proprietary leather inspection process, which assures that each production lot is evaluated individually. If there are color shade differences, each lot will be separated into a maximum of four within tolerance shades. Impactiva technicians will then perform 100% inspection of each hide / skin to verify its organoleptic characteristics, trimming and grading. The leather will be packed and shipped in bundles by color shade and grade.
Our Service Commitment: +98% of the square feet will arrive without tannery claims and more than US$0.25 / sq. ft. of waste will be eliminated from your leather supply chain.
“Impactiva’s service allowed us to significantly reduce our production lead times, achieve +99% of leather shipped meeting our requirements and improve the overall quality of our finished product. I would without a doubt recommend Impactiva as an effective, trustworthy and professional partner to anyone experiencing leather problems in their manufacturing supply chain”.
Reduce your Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) by more than 90% improving your company and brand equity! Impactiva can help you to immediately begin to achieve the below listed savings.
Optimized Leather Supply Chain: eliminate more than US$0.25 / sq. ft. of waste-errors in your leather supply chain.
Tannery Claims: reduce factory quality related claims to your tanneries to less than 2% of the sq. ft. of leather shipped.
Tannery Costs: internal rework (chemicals, labor and machine time), overtime, and un-shippable leather sold at a discount.
Your QC Team Costs: eliminate the need of spending valuable resources on recruiting, training, coaching and supervising your own QC Team. Have the option of fast deployment of trustworthy QA-QC professionals when you discover suppliers in lower cost regions or countries. Eliminate the stress and strains of disruptions from the departure of key members of your Quality Assurance / Quality Control team.
Freight Costs: elude the expensive emergency air freight shipment of replacement leather and worse, air freighting of finished product.
Rework Costs: avoid the painful payment of costs associated with reworking the leather at a local rework tannery plus the back and forth inland transportation.
Factory Costs: reduce factory costs that can have an effect on the price you pay for the final product. Reduce cutting losses due to better trimming and higher % of clean area received; eliminate the components or final product destroyed due to defective leather; abolish overtime due to less disruptions in production schedules; avoid the need for leather warehouse inspectors; free factory’s purchasing staff from handling claims; avoid B grading of final product and eradicate the air freight of final product due to defective leather arrivals.
Client Chargebacks: due to late delivery or defective leather in the final product.
Gross Margin Loss: final product order cancellations, clients putting you on probation, clients permanently stopping to buy from you.
Chargeback Administrative Handling Costs: eliminate the need to have expensive headquarter staff dedicating their valuable time to negotiate claims and chargebacks with tanneries, factories and clients.
Variable vs Fixed: turn your QA/QC costs from a fixed to a variable expense allowing you to reduce headcount and the stress of meeting monthly higher operating expense payments.
Loss of Brand Equity: avoid losing your Company’s hard earned corporate and brand image and an increase in client dissatisfaction due to repeated leather quality problems.
Leather Quality: improve the average outgoing quality level of your final product using this improvement as a competitive sales advantage.
Lead-time Deterioration: avoid finding out the day of the shipment that your leather is still in production. Improve your final product lead time as with Impactiva’s Leather QA Program your leather can go directly to cutting and does not wait while claims are being negotiated.
Organizational Tranquility: reduce the arguments – discussions – disruptions – noise level between you, your factories and tanneries. Diminish the stress of being “forced” to accept/approve defective leather at the very last minute as otherwise your final product will not be shipped on time. Reduce the time wasted by senior leadership on quality and production related issues (angry factory owner calls, organizing express shipments, ugly claims discussions with tannery and/or factory owners who have significant cultural differences and are across many time zones).
More Knowledge: increase the technical knowledge of leather of your own and your factories’ staff by interacting with Impactiva’s technicians.

DEFINITION OF STANDARDS
This process is one of the pillars of Impactiva’s leading-edge Leather Quality Assurance System. We work to help you define the rules of the game of your Leather QA Program so that all parties in your leather supply chain understand the details of how your Program will function. These rules of the game are converted into a ten page document called your Process and Procedure Book.
Before each season begins, Impactiva will work with your materials development team to understand the key concerns with respect to each leather type to be produced. These are turned into “Know Your Leather” spec sheets which along with the leather confirmation sample, color windows and range swatches comprise the standards for each leather type.
Impactiva will hold periodical meetings with you, the tanneries and factories to ensure the uniformity across the supply chain of all leather confirmation swatches and to discuss in detail, the standards and tolerances for all leather characteristics, colors and defects.
Your organization will also receive ideas on how to improve processes that will help you optimize your leather supply chain: leather purchasing contract terms, leather packing instructions, physical properties and restricted substances testing protocols.
We also can assist you to control the quality of your leather development and commercialization processes including QC on your salesman and confirmation samples. This reduces the lead-times of these time critical processes by producing samples Right from the start TM.
IMPACTIVA AT THE TANNERY
Development Quality Control
We perform a very thorough quality control at the tannery before the shipment of prototype, salesman sample or confirmation sample leather. This substantially reduces the error rate of your development samples, thereby reducing the total process cycle-time.
Production Quality Control
On each lot of leather we perform a series of up to 20 manual tests that mimic actual laboratory tests. These tests include color matching, thickness, tear strength, break, and adhesion. If any lot fails, we ask the tannery to validate the results in their laboratory and if confirmed, we work with the tannery to perform a 100% inspection for the detected failure with the aim of maximizing the % of leather that is shipped. If the lot passes, the leather is separated by color shade and then undergoes 100% inspection for 14 quality parameters. Standardized trimming is enforced. The leather is then separated, packed and shipped by color shade and grade.
On Time Delivery Monitoring
We assist you to manage your on time delivery of leather orders by emitting accurate / reliable status updates every Monday with alarms for late orders. Detailed follow up of the status of particular orders can also be provided thus keeping you and your factories continuously informed of purchase orders that have very time critical ship dates.
OUR CONTRIBUTION TO CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Impactiva’s work does not end when your leather orders are shipped. We create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and learning throughout your entire supply chain. If any quality problems / issues arise when the leather arrives at the factories, we work hard to obtain all the necessary information which allows us to perform a detailed and complete investigation until root causes are determined. We then immediately communicate our findings to you, your leather supply chain partners and the entire Impactiva Team at your service and implement any changes required to processes and procedures to prevent reoccurrences.
WHY IS IMPACTIVA DIFFERENT?
DEPENDABLE QUALITY ASSURANCE
Our highly trained technicians will work side-by-side with your factory or tannery employees. Their coaching will bring reliability, efficiency and corruption-free discipline to the factory floor, protecting your brand while reducing factory waste and errors. Our technicians eliminate the need for you to spend valuable resources on replacing and training in-house inspectors.
DETAILED UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR NEEDS AND PRODUCTS
We’ll work with you on the product specifications, and then ensure this understanding is conveyed directly to operators on the factory floor. We’ll also use this knowledge to perform mandatory tests, averting costly reworks and delivery delays by detecting defects or deviations early. The result: better quality with fewer claims and chargebacks.
PROVEN, COST-SAVING PROCESSES
Our proprietary quality assurance processes will ensure proper execution at every step.
