How it works
Impactiva will meet with your materials team to define your leather standards in precise detail before the start of each production season so that 100% of the leather can be inspected at your tanneries and go directly to the cutting rooms of your factories without requiring a re-inspection.
Our technicians will go to your tanneries every time a production lot is ready for shipment. They will carry out our proprietary leather inspection process, which assures that each production lot is evaluated individually. If there are color shade differences, each lot will be separated into a maximum of four within tolerance shades. Impactiva technicians will then perform 100% inspection of each hide / skin to verify its organoleptic characteristics, trimming and grading. The leather will be packed and shipped in bundles by color shade and grade.

DEFINITION OF STANDARDS
This process is one of the pillars of Impactiva’s leading-edge Leather Quality Assurance System. We work to help you define the rules of the game of your Leather QA Program so that all parties in your leather supply chain understand the details of how your Program will function. These rules of the game are converted into a ten page document called your Process and Procedure Book.
Before each season begins, Impactiva will work with your materials development team to understand the key concerns with respect to each leather type to be produced. These are turned into “Know Your Leather” spec sheets which along with the leather confirmation sample, color windows and range swatches comprise the standards for each leather type.
Impactiva will hold periodical meetings with you, the tanneries and factories to ensure the uniformity across the supply chain of all leather confirmation swatches and to discuss in detail, the standards and tolerances for all leather characteristics, colors and defects.
Your organization will also receive ideas on how to improve processes that will help you optimize your leather supply chain: leather purchasing contract terms, leather packing instructions, physical properties and restricted substances testing protocols.
We also can assist you to control the quality of your leather development and commercialization processes including QC on your salesman and confirmation samples. This reduces the lead-times of these time critical processes by producing samples Right from the start TM.
IMPACTIVA AT THE TANNERY
Development Quality Control
We perform a very thorough quality control at the tannery before the shipment of prototype, salesman sample or confirmation sample leather. This substantially reduces the error rate of your development samples, thereby reducing the total process cycle-time.
Production Quality Control
On each lot of leather we perform a series of up to 20 manual tests that mimic actual laboratory tests. These tests include color matching, thickness, tear strength, break, and adhesion. If any lot fails, we ask the tannery to validate the results in their laboratory and if confirmed, we work with the tannery to perform a 100% inspection for the detected failure with the aim of maximizing the % of leather that is shipped. If the lot passes, the leather is separated by color shade and then undergoes 100% inspection for 14 quality parameters. Standardized trimming is enforced. The leather is then separated, packed and shipped by color shade and grade.
On Time Delivery Monitoring
We assist you to manage your on time delivery of leather orders by emitting accurate / reliable status updates every Monday with alarms for late orders. Detailed follow up of the status of particular orders can also be provided thus keeping you and your factories continuously informed of purchase orders that have very time critical ship dates.
