One of the serious problems within the apparel and footwear business unit over the past three years has been the amount of mold growth in the product when it arrives. This is costing hundreds of millions of dollars, causing claims and creating problems throughout the industry.
If water accumulates on your products during the course of shipment, it will be covered with mold when it arrives. It can cost up to $10 per item (shipping, clean up, distribution back to customer) to clean each moldy shoe or garment, causing delivery delays. Or worse case the product is damaged permanently, costing you profit and negatively affecting your brand. Don’t let mold kill your sales and your brand!
Avoid lost sales due to moldy shoes or garments arriving at your customers. You can clean them but at a horrible cost. Imagine bringing in 50,000 pairs of shoes, sending them to 500 retailers, only to find out they are all full of mold. Imagine having to recapture all those shoes, send them to a cleaner, have them cleaned and then asking the retailer pay shipping to get them back.
Impactiva’s Objectives
Assist your factories to substantially reduce the incidence of mold in your footwear or garment shipments:

Impactiva’s Mold Prevention Quality Assurance Program
Two times per month for each of the twelve months of the year, a qualified Impactiva Mold Quality Assurance (QA) Technician will visit each of your factories to perform a Mold Audit based on the review and evaluation of more than 70 separate criteria organized under the following headings:
- Factory Building & Maintenance
- Materials & Finished Goods Storage
- Prefabrication
- Production Process
- Finished Goods Packaging
- Transportation
- Anti-Mold Chemical
- Mold Prevention Training
At the end of each visit, the Impactiva Mold QA Technician will emit a Factory Mold Prevention Audit Report to CUSTOMER and the Factory that clearly highlights and explains the remedial action to be taken by the Factory.
The Impactiva Mold QA Technician then organizes a meeting with the most senior management at the Factory to report the results of the program, actions taken or not taken since the last visit, arriving at a new commitment of what tasks are required to be done during the following two weeks.
Within 24 hours of each Audit, the CUSTOMER will receive each Factory’s Mold Prevention Audit Report with the agreed upon action plan and commitments made by the Factory. If the Factory is not fulfilling its commitments, Impactiva will notify the CUSTOMER so that pressure can be applied to said supplier.
On the 5th day of every month, the CUSTOMER will receive a summary report of the results achieved by each Factory during said month. Said report will confirm for each Factory the current level of non-compliance to the agreed upon correction tasks (i.e. the number of tasks completed versus the number of tasks committed).
