Leather Standards and Specifications
We help you manage your leather confirmation swatch, color window and range swatch systems at the tannery to help ensure tannery buy in and approval.
- We match LCSs, CWs & RSs to ensure uniformity
- We maintain the LCS, CW & RS databases
- LCS Review: twice per year LCSs from Tanneries-Factories-Brand are brought together to ensure uniformity.
A minimum of twice per year, before the production season starts, Seasonal Review Meetings are held:
- Brand-Factory-Tannery-Impactiva meet and discuss in utmost detail the standards and tolerances for all leather characteristics, colors and defects.
- A hide/skin of each leather type and a swatch of each color is analyzed along with a pair of all styles to be made.
- All parties reach a consensus on acceptable deviations.
- A leather spec sheet is created for each leather type and color.
Other standards we help to define:
- Grading Standards (what is the min., max., avg. % clean area of a 1st, 2nd, 3rd...).
- Factory-Tannery Leather Purchasing Contract Terms (how to use %-clean-area/allowable grades/price to meet the quality needs of different footwear programs).
- What is a defect and what defect levels are acceptable for each leather type and color?
- Process & Procedure Book (defines the rules of the game between all parties).
