Leather Development, Production & Testing Quality Control

Leather goods quality assurance servicesDevelopment Quality Control

  • Quality Control before shipment of Prototypes or Salesman Samples (substantially reduces the error rate of the development process).
  • Quality Control before shipment of sample leathers to be used to make Confirmation Shoe Samples (eliminating differences between Leather Confirmation Swatches and Confirmation Shoe Samples).

Production Quality Control

For each leather production lot we:

  • Perform a series of manual tests (color matching, thickness, tear strength, break, adhesion...)
  • Separate by color shade
  • Enforce proper trimming using our written trimming standard
  • 100% of hides are graded and organoleptic properties checked
  • Emit a report with % clean area shipped

Factory After Sales Support

  • Whenever a factory has a leather quality issue they only need to call Impactiva (no longer have to deal with personnel from many different tanneries each of who use different techniques to analyze possible claims).
  • 95% of factory calls are handled within a maximum of 24 hours, 100% within 48 hours.
  • If the call becomes a valid claim, a professional claim report is emitted and sent to both tannery and factory.
  • Impactiva then assists both parties to resolve the claim quickly (claims processing time objective: average of 3 days).
  • Impactiva will technically advise/assist factory in all aspects of leather usage (handling, cutting, embossing-oven temperatures, finishing, etc.).

Claim Root Cause Analysis

When a claim occurs our R&D, Internal Quality Assurance and Production Teams spend the time and energy to:

  • Find the root cause of each problem (if required performing many tests / experiments investing whatever time is required).
  • Using lessons learned to implement process changes across the entire supply chain for permanent improvement.

Testing Control

Impactiva will help you to manage your compliance to US-EU physical-chemical leather testing by:

  • Developing a list of materials to be tested at the beginning of each season.
  • Working with your tanneries to receive a test report for all required materials.
  • Taking material cuttings or finished product from ongoing production and sending them to designated 3rd party labs.
  • Controlling the reception of 3rd party lab reports.
  • Summarizing results in a weekly report with % of approvals/failures.
