Perforated upper material – Case #632

Problem: perforation holes don’t look neat as the upper material stretches during the  lasting process.

Impactiva solution: we got the factory to attach reinforcement tape on the back side of the upper material in order to avoid the elongation that causes perforation holes to stretch.

Uneven distance from edges – Case #611

Problem: uneven punch distance from the folding edge caused by an uneven and wavy folding.

Looseness in uppers – Case #597

“A picture is worth a thousand words”. Practical solutions to problems encountered in the manufacturing process that demonstrate how we assist our customers’ factories to produce Right from the Start TM.

Problem: usable leather was becoming loose during stiffener attaching and Strobel stitching procedures, since it required extensive handling as uppers are folded. The Factory was using non-woven material as backer, which was not providing proper strength.

Impactiva solution: we got the Factory to use 1.2mm EVA instead of non-woven for empty grain / poor temper leather in order to keep it tight and maintain the required strength.

Uneven toe shape – Case #595

Problem: uneven toe shape on the upper stitched edges.

Impactiva solution: we suggested the Factory to pre-form the edges with the help of a flat pointed tool before lasting, in order to achieve smooth stitched upper edges.

Risk of straps pulling off – Case #574

Problem: the style had very thin straps, so there were high chances of the upper failing the pull off test.

Impactiva solution: we got the factory to stitch a piece of textile at the edges of all the straps in order to provide extra contact area for proper bonding with sole and insole

Loose lasting – Case #571

Problem: loose lasting.

Impactiva solution: we got the factory to increase the lasting allowance by making two deep cuts at the upper edges, the attachment will be tighter, what’s also good for fitting.

Risk of color migration – Case #511

Problem: risk of color migration from the black PU upper material on to the white outsole wall.

Impactiva solution: we got the factory to attach a transparent PVC welt of 35mm width and 1.1 mm thick on the feather edge area of the outsole to avoid color migration on to the white outsole. This procedure will not affect the sole bonding or cause lip opening. After adding the PVC welt, we tested sole bonding with a result of 24.63 Kg.

Sole placement – Case #497

Problem: the factory was using the sole for marking its placement on the upper, but the marking was not consistent due to poor handling of the sole.

Impactiva solution: we got the factory to make a vacuum pattern with notches on the sides, toe and heel, which is more convenient for the artisan to align on the lasted upper in the correct position in order to mark the sole placement consistently.
