Wrinkles in socks and lining – Case #640

Perforated upper material – Case #632

Problem: perforation holes don’t look neat as the upper material stretches during the  lasting process.

Impactiva solution: we got the factory to attach reinforcement tape on the back side of the upper material in order to avoid the elongation that causes perforation holes to stretch.

Wrinkles on the top line – Case #603

Problem: wrinkles on the top-line, above the toe-puff area.

Impactiva solution: we got the factory to attach two pieces of backer cloth up to the folding area, do a 8 mm. taper skiving and use 20 mm. nylon tape below the top line to prevent wrinkles and looseness.

Looseness in uppers – Case #597

“A picture is worth a thousand words”. Practical solutions to problems encountered in the manufacturing process that demonstrate how we assist our customers’ factories to produce Right from the Start TM.

Problem: usable leather was becoming loose during stiffener attaching and Strobel stitching procedures, since it required extensive handling as uppers are folded. The Factory was using non-woven material as backer, which was not providing proper strength.

Impactiva solution: we got the Factory to use 1.2mm EVA instead of non-woven for empty grain / poor temper leather in order to keep it tight and maintain the required strength.

Wavy and loose foxing – Case #594

Problem: the weaved foxing material was wavy and loose at the edges.

Impactiva solution: we suggested the Factory to attach a backer on the reverse of the foxing material to hold the weaved part in place during stitching and avoid opening up and looseness.

Preventing topline waviness – Case #581

Risk of bonding failure – Case #549

Problem: the upper was made of a mesh material, and the shoe was being produced without any backer at the lasting margin. This may cause bonding failure.
